Our History

For over 42 years, our family has been in the window coverings and domestic home furnishings industry. We first opened our doors in 1976 in the heart of downtown Portland, Maine, and many of our employees have been working with us for over 20 years. In that time, we have seen many styles come and go, and chances are there isn’t a size, style, or material we haven’t seen. As a result, we have accumulated a wealth of knowledge over the years that is exclusive The Curtainshop of Maine.

Present Day and Beyond

Today we remain an independent, Maine-owned and operated family business. We currently have three Maine locations (South Portland, Bangor, and Waterville) that combine for almost 40,000 square feet of curtains, draperies, blinds, and more. For home projects we carry window treatments suited for anything from the smallest bathroom window up to the largest picture window. For our commercial customers, we fulfill orders for bank drive-thru windows up to projects like installing window treatments in the entire Barbara Bush wing of Maine Medical Center.
